Terrence O. Moore
Terrence O. Moore recently joined the Hillsdale faculty as an assistant professor of history. He earned an A.B. in history from the University of Chicago in 1990 and a Ph.D. in history from the University of Edinburgh in 1999. He was an assistant professor of history at Ashland University in Ohio for two years, 1999-2001. Dr. Moore also served as a lieutenant in the U. S. Marine Corps from 1990-1993. In the summer of 2001 he became the principal of Ridgeview Classical Schools, a K-12 charter school that opened in the fall of that year, and served in that capacity until the summer of 2008. Ridgeview's high school was, based on the state's standardized testing, twice ranked the number-one public high school in the state and has been ranked among the top three every year since its opening. Recently, U. S. News and World Report ranked Ridgeview's high school fifteenth in the nation out of some 12,000 schools and the fourth in the nation in the "open enrollment" category. Dr. Moore has written frequently on the issues of school reform, liberal education, and traditional manhood. He edited George Turnbull's Observations upon Liberal Education (1742) for Liberty Fund.
