227 Massachusetts Avenue, N.E.
The Kirby Center is housed in a 16,000-square-foot building on Capitol Hill, just a few minutes’ walk from the Supreme Court, Senate office buildings, and Union Station. Comprised of three row houses constructed in 1890, the buildings underwent a complete interior renovation in preparation for the fall 2010 opening. Located at 227 Massachusetts Avenue, N.E. in Washington, D.C., the building is a beautiful example of Queen Anne Victorian architecture.
With a first floor work area, seminar space, and lounge devoted exclusively to student use, the ground level will be regularly populated by Hillsdale and other students from around the city. The second floor features two entry parlor rooms, a reception space, and a meeting hall with a double-height ceiling. Offices are located on the third and fourth floors, with additional fourth floor space housing a library and terrace ideal for receptions.
The Kirby Center building is a non-residential facility, Hillsdale College Washington-Hillsdale Internship Program (WHIP) students will continue to live in the Heritage Foundation’s Johnson dormitory building, located directly across Massachusetts Avenue from the Kirby Center building.
