ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Victoria C. G. Coates is a cultural historian and works as a senior advisor for national security policy in the U.S. Senate. She served as Director of Research in the Office of Donald Rumsfeld in 2007. She received her B.A. from Trinity College, Hartford, her M.A. from Williams College and her Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania. She is the author of David’s Sling: A History of Democracy in Ten Works of Art.

Gary Wolfram is the William E. Simon Professor of Economics at Hillsdale College and president of Hillsdale Policy Group, a consulting firm specializing in taxation and policy analysis. He received his Ph.D. in economics from the University of California at Berkeley. He is a weekly columnist for The Detroit News and author of A Capitalist Manifesto.
